The Sherwood RF speech processor provides no-compromise RF/IF envelope clipping for high intelligibility and unexcelled talkpower. The Drake 8-pole SL-2300 crystal filter (removed from the TR-7) drives a highly effective active hard limiter (clipper), followed by a custom-made replacement 8-pole crystal filter that is installed in the rig: the keys to highest processing efficiency. The 7-SP uses reliable and fast pin-diode switching of filters and clipper stage. Make use of all filters in the rig and the processor for improved receive capability. Processor is rig powered, and is easy to interconnect with your equipment. No hole drilling is required.

The highly versatile 7-SP Mk III for the TR-7 not only improves your transmitted signal, but offers automatic transmit/receive switching as well as the option of selecting either the processor's transmitting crystal filter for tandumed 16-pole receive bandwidth, or, in addition, a second accessory narrower filter in the 7-SP for receiving under extremely heavy QRM. This allows for extra versatility and selection of up to six filters.

All units have filter selection and clipper in/out switches, plus an output control after the clipper (for proper final/PA drive adjustment from band to band, or for precisely setting linear-amplifier excitation level). Clipping is adjusted by the rig microphone gain control. Each processor is housed in an attractive 8x5x3-inch charcoal-colored cabinet, accented with white lettering, that blends well with all Drake equipment. High-quality machine-screw construction is used with top and bottom removable for easy access to both sides of PC board.
